October 1999
In January 1996, European National standards for Radio Frequency Interference Suppression capacitors (X and Y types) were replaced by the European Standard EN 132 400 (1994). This standard is identical to the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standard IEC 384-14 (1993) Second Edition, except the EN 132 400 standard includes additional requirements for the Active Flammability Test. The European National safety approvals (VDE 0565-1, SEV, OVE, IMQ, S, N, D, FI, etc.,) will be void as of July 1, 2000.
Therefore, in future, Iskra suppression capacitors will be marked with the new VDE – EN 132 400 marking which covers the European countries (this replaces all European National approval marks), as well as the combined UL-CSA (USA and Canada) approval mark.
Current LCR customers will continue receiving capacitors marked with all the various National safety approvals until inventory has been depleted. Please remember that this is only a marking change and will not affect any other aspects of the size or quality of the capacitors.
